Hello! Welcome to my website. I'm so happy you've found me. Making art has been a lifelong journey beginning in childhood with making my own paper dolls and drawing on the walls. I loved my childhood picture books, especially an edition of Grimm's Fairytales. Dreaming of making my own children's books someday, I joined the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators in 2000 and a writing critique group.I illustrated a writer's manuscript which resulted in "My Daddy Has Sleep Apnea" being published in October 2012.
While improving my illustrating skills, I discovered an online class, "Illustrating Children's Books" with "Make Art That Sells." Taking classes there and on Skillshare, my art and confidence began to blossom. I fell in love with collage and mixed-media (gouache, colored pencils, ink, and watercolor.)
I began to upload art to Redbubble.com and shared my creations on Instagram. My art was accepted into The Tewksbury Historical Society Juried Art Exhibit in 2019 and two paintings were displayed at the ACL Gallery in 2022. During this journey, I married the love of my life and raised 3 wonderful children. I've had a few different fulfilling careers, including being a Teacher's Assistant with children with disabilities.
During Covid-19 lockdown, I honed my illustration skills, learned Photoshop, sold a few paintings, and. . . TA DA. . . published my own website! In June of 2021, I learned Procreate. Now I create illustrations digitally, in Mixed-Media Collage, or a combination of both.
In the Spring of 2022, I did an Instagram challenge, #100dayproject. I created a collage a day for 100 days. It was a joyous experience! Please take a peek at all 100 collages.
As I continue to edit my picture book manuscripts, I am eager to illustrate my stories, as well as others. I've been commissioned to make collages and welcome more of these assignments.
If you have a project in mind or have any questions, please email me in the Contact Section. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for visiting my site and learning about me. I hope you enjoy my art - for that is its purpose - to bring JOY! xo Nancy
